A large ecommerce website, hosting over 500,000 products and integrating with the company’s eBay store.
Who are they?
Ransom Spares is a Somerset company selling domestic appliance spare parts for the home and garden. They promote a “make and mend” culture, not only selling the parts customers need, but showing them how to fix their appliances via their many helpful videos.
What was the problem?
With a catalogue of over 500,000 products, and a models database of over 70 million combinations Ransom Spare’s website required a more complex structure of category, model and product (most ecommerce sites are just category and product). For example most spare parts will fit multiple models and customers will want to check that a part will fix their type of machine.
The company handles large volumes of orders each day and managing this, together with a complex system of stock and supplier management, highlighted the need for many more aspects of the work to be automated.
What was the solution?
The solution is a custom shop module running on Kontrolit to allow for Ransom Spares’ unique structure. Our completely bespoke development focuses on automating many complex processes and allowing bulk changes to be made.
This takes our standard tools and modifies them for this unique website. For example the company can bulk import and update products, bulk update images, manage products on back-order and automatically notify customers of latest availability, integrate with supplier databases for streamlining order processing, maintaining pricing and stock.
A custom integration with eBay helps drive new sales from different channels.
