What did they need?
The company’s booking system needed major improvements and enhancements. At the time, a third party website was being used to book rooms or events at the B & B and barn, while winery and brewery tours were booked through Chiltern Valley’s old website. Having to switch between two websites to see availability for rooms and winery tours was confusing for visitors wanting to do both.
At the same time, the booking process had to allow for the company to manually book out both the B & B and tour spaces when a wedding or other event was reserving the entire site.
The booking process also needed to integrate with a number of third party “experience day” voucher providers (Red Letter Days, Virgin Experiences etc.).
To boost ecommerce revenue, Chiltern Valley wanted to make the most of opportunities to upsell other products during the booking process, as well as an online shop to sell their beers and wines, speciality foods, gifts and vouchers.

What was the solution?
Our first phase of work was to give the website a fresh redesign. We created both the layout and the technical capability needed to make the site responsive and user-friendly for the growing number of mobile users.
Their new website was based on our most up-to-date CMS platform, KIT4. We resolved all of Chiltern Valley’s room and tour booking requirements with some well-planned and creative bespoke development.
Visitors can now check availability for winery tours and accommodation in one place, and book both at the same time if required. In addition, the booking process makes the most of opportunities to enhance a guest’s visit with additional pre-paid products or services, for example pre-chilled beer or wine in their room, or booking an evening meal from a set menu.
Kontrolit’s standard ecommerce shop has created an attractive showcase for Chiltern Valley’s unique products. Sales are further encouraged by a clear layout, high quality images and easy navigation through a secure checkout.
