We define Web 2.0 as items that allow users to interact (be active) with a document. As opposed to Web 1.0 pages being just text and images – thus a passive experience.
Any document on the site can allow comments to be made on that document. This feature is great at encouraging dialogue with visitors and also keeping site content fresh.
Documents can be rated and then an average rating shown. Once a user has rated they are prevented from rating the document again. Rating provides a quick method of getting feedback from site visitors.
Show the number of views for a document and allow visitors to see what’s popular and what’s not.
Tagging is a popular way of organising content. The advantages of tags over categories are that a document can have multiple tags but normally only one category. The multiple tags can be added together and displayed in a tag cloud. The tag cloud with show some tags bigger than others depending on the frequency of the tag used. Thus a visitor viewing a tag cloud has more than a 1 dimensional list to locate content that interests them.
