Kontrolit v3.9 available now
Kontrolit v3.9 brings many structural and hidden changes in the core Kontrolit CMS code, many of which will not be noticable to our website customers. However, a couple of major changes have been added to this, our latest version of our powerful website content management system.

- Admin panel structural changes
- New module ... Events Plus
- Event grouping
- New admin panel user role / permissions available
Admin Panel Structural Changes
Version 3.9 of our Kontrolit brings with it a major overhaul of the structure in the website admin panel. In previous versions of Kontrolit, the "Document Manager" was the core part of the admin panel and where most webmasters would create their news, blog articles, events etc. The limitations with this approach were that:
- If you had permission to access the document manager you could create any type of document (depending on what modules were swtiched on). For example if you had two modules enabled, news and the blog. You would not have been able to create a user who could only manage the website news articles
- Having seperated the products into it's own manager, it seemed illogical to have to go to the product manager to create products but then go to the document manager to do everything else
Improvements we've made
Having listened to our partners and customers, we decided to split the document manager up into the different modules / site sections, all of which are now found under the content menu. This means that when you want to insert a news article, you go to the "News" menu option under the content menu. Likewise, if you wanted to insert a blog entry you would go to the "Blog" menu option under the content menu.
Better admin panel user role / permissions
The benefit of splitting out the content menu into the different sections, also allows us the ability to lock down the admin panel per section. For example, if the webmaster wanted to set a user up to only have access to the news section, they will now be able to create a user role for this purpose. This means that the website owners have far greater flexibility over what control they give to their different members of staff.
Events Plus Module
One other major change to Kontrolit v3.9 is the new Events Plus module. This module is an extension of the basic events module, but now allows:
- Credit card booking for events
- Events can be grouped so you can see all future occurances of similar events
- Event venues can have a maximum number of spaces available
- For each event you can override the venue spaces available
- You can insert an "number of places booked offline" per event
