OFT to look at online pricing

In a move to protect consumers the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) will be looking at online pricing practices.Office of Fair Trading.

They will be looking at:

• Price comparison websites which claim to give the best deals will be reviewed on prices
• Drip pricing, where charges and extras are added during the purchase
• Customised pricing, where prices are individually tailored using data mining techniques

Consumers should be aware of the final price before they startthe buying process.

The OFT is looking to have completed the study by the summer of 2010.
